After conducting a city survey, it was discovered that Sheffield is facing a severe shortage of childcare facilities. This shortage not only hampers the workforce, but also impedes the growth and sustainability of the community and county.

To address this issue, Sheffield Childcare Expansion, a consortium comprising of Sukup Manufacturing, West Fork School District, and UBTC has applied for a matching grant from Future Ready Iowa, with a total budget of $2.5 Million. The grant will provide the necessary funds to construct a childcare facility capable of accommodating up to 112 children.

The Future Ready Iowa grant is required to be led by a business within the consortium, and Sukup Manufacturing was awarded a matching grant of $1.25 Million, with support from Sheffield area partners. Building design discussions are well underway and the total cost of the infrastructure will exceed the matching grant for a total of $3.3 Million. We are currently seeking businesses in Franklin County and the surrounding areas to contribute funds, in-kind services, and/or products, so that we can turn this project into a reality and make the dreams of families in the area come true. You can help support this project and Make a Donation.
